Our 80th Season Begins!!

Monthly Meeting

Keeping Our Rivers Clean, One Rain Garden at a Time

Thursday, Sept. 10, 11:30 am

Ann Arbor City Club

September draws near, and that can mean only one thing – it’s Farm & Garden season! We look forward to welcoming everyone back from wonderful summer adventures for our educational programs, committee work and social activities. We’re offering new lunch menu options along with our traditional friendly fellowship.

Our September meeting focuses on rain gardens. Rain gardens serve the greater good, and are practical solutions for basement and yard flooding. Anyone can plant a rain garden! You don’t need special equipment – just a yard, a spade, compost and a few plants. A beautiful addition to any landscape, rain gardens also help keep our rivers, lakes and streams clean.

Local Rain Garden expert Susan Bryan will talk about the benefits of rain gardens and how to build and plant one at your own home. Susan created and teaches the Master Rain Gardener class at the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office. More than 2,000 rain gardens have been built by homeowners on her advice by Master Rain Gardeners.

Registration is open until midnight, Thursday Sept. 3.
